Thread Topic: How do you interpret the following images?
-
Positive or negative? What meaning do you derive from them? How do they make you feel? There is no right or wrong answer, and please don't take into account what anyone else says in your answer. I want your own first impressions upon seeing these. If you're tempted to say, "I can see how this could be positive or negative", please tell me what your very first impression was instead. Did your mind immediately interpret it as good or bad?

makes me feel positive

Makes me feel bad because I will never reach the relieving conclusions they have.
-
I really meant each one, not the gallery as a whole. Each image is pretty different from the others.

these aren't going to be one-word answers, sorry.
1. there's comfort to it? it reminds me of how i've found myself feeling after a traumatic experience or through dysphoria. despite everything feeling terrible, this is still me.
2. concerned. is this from someone being persecuted by a harmful authority, or from the authority itself? history should hold us accountable.
3. yeah mood. this feels like an elevator sign?
4. why is it in the nike font? relatable as of late though. the clear reference to a corporate giant sets this call to or warning of revolution in modern times— we aren't referencing a specific history here. it makes me feel angry, it feels dystopian
5. hozier is that you? i'm craving fruit now
6. good image. thank you cat. i think it would be different if the cat were sleeping or turned away— in facing the viewer it feels like a much more energized picture
7. the somewhat childlike nature of the handwriting makes me uneasy. and whatever paper's covered in snow is going to get soggy. unpleasant image
8. CRAB TIME that has to be a mighty big hermit crab tho, the fact that this could be a sheet from some "wow quirky" desk calendar makes me feel neutral on it. try harder, crab
9. UNCOMFORTABLE SKELETON FOOT POSE VERY BAD
10. this is the dark equivalent of the first image. it's lost the original autonomy
11. wow helvetica. bothers me that the text is just above the eyes. but good for her
12. wishing the text was larger, is the rose meant to be mountains as well? it's not my favorite image here, but it's not uncomfortable
13. VERY GOOD i love it
14. feels low spoons, the last remaining energy in a dirty old room. leans a little too heavily on the nostalgia of old technology in my opinion
15. it's true, but i don't like it being here. looks like an office space. looks like a supervisor trying to "encourage" you but really just deflecting the weight of the labor they put on you
16. dark but true! death is inevitable! stop fearing how you'll die
17. big mood, sadly
18. har har very funny. that could be anyone
19. don't like that much. is that an ocean made of their own tears?
20. unfortunately i agree, realizing this daily. i don't remember who the artist is but it's a good image. wise cats here
21.THANK U BIRD POSITIVE IMAGE
22. i feel like i've been there. thank you. agreed
23. that sort of power is allowed, i think, and shows more love ultimately
24. can i be a full-on art critic here
25. this is optimistic but the child elements of it make me kind of uncomfortable
26. yeah that's the jesus christianity doesn't tell you about, i relate to that man
27. why would you feel weird that cat is good
28. mood to a T, be kind to your younger self
29. agreed but sometimes there is just so much in my head i will forget to heal things.
30. is that the artist standing there? i appreciate his smile. looks like a dad. tahnks balloon dad
31. honestly? agreed, it's okay to be angry. i'm here for it. be angry be free -
all of them seemed depressing

That didn't take as much time as I expected it would. -
1.) Negative. I personally don't like who I am, so the words, "Despite everything, it's still you," paired with the color format makes me overall get negative vibes from the picture.
2.) Negative. History is there to hold us accountable for our actions. Absolving history makes it where we can't learn, and build. (At least that's what I think)
3.) N/A This picture doesn't make me feel positive or negative.
4.) Negative. The words on the screen seem to threaten whomever it is aimed at. Makes it seem like once you completely break someone, they'll be compliant. I just don't like that.
5.) Positive. When I read this, I feel empowered. I feel like I could be the bigger person, and make a better impact by "killing them with kindness".
6.) Positive. The phrase on the paper, paired with the cat makes this seem like it's about animal adoption; and this picture shows that their is still hope for the animals that are in the shelter.
7.) Negative. I feel like this image has way to many things that seem a tad bit sketchy in them. So many things run through my mind when I see this pic.
8.) Positive. This makes me feel like I could fight my battles and be victorious in them. The serene style of the artwork helps with that as well.
9.) N/A I can't tell what emotion I feel with this piece, just because I resonate with it to much.
10.) Negative. I feel like this explanation will be the same as the first photos.
11.) Positive. I can relate to this one, but I feel positive about it because the changes I made in my life were positive.
12.) Negative. When I see this picture, I think: heartbreak. Someone who has trusted way to many people, and gotten their heart broken.
13.) Positive. It makes me think about the possibility of meeting everyone I have met. It is amazing that I have crossed paths with any of you.
14.) Negative. When I see this, the thought of how depression feels floods my mind. It makes me think of rough days.
15.) Positive. This makes me feel like, as long as I pursue what I want, I can get somewhere.
16.) I just chuckled at this, but I have no positive or negative feelings about this pic.
17.) Positive. I feel this shows that there are people out here who won't comply with everything that is forced onto them. It gives me hope for the future, and our future generations.
18.) Positive. This picture gives me the feeling of, "You are one in a million." It makes me feel like there is no one like me, except for me.
19.) Positive. This makes me think of liberation and freedom. Even though they are sad, they have something that they didn't have before: freedom.
20.) Positive or negative doesn't cross my mind when I see this image, but truthfulness does.
21.) Positive. This image just radiates positivity, and hopefulness. I love it.
22.) Positive. This shows that you can change, regardless of circumstances. I feel like the softness of the color palette add to this as well.
23.) N/A
24.) Negative. I get that the message is good, but there is something about this image that makes me feel negatively.
25.) Positive. This makes me think of it in a positive connotation because of the colors, and the way the words are written. It makes me think of someone who hasn't been recognized for their good deeds, but will be soon.
26.) Positive. This just gives me relaxed vibes.
27.) Positive. This image makes me feel like we should prioritize our mental health, which is a good thing.
28.) Positive. This shows that we should be easy on ourselves, because we learn and grow everyday.
29.) Positive. This is another image that shows that change is good.
30.) Positive. I feel like this photo is educational, and the colors help make it feel upbeat as well.
31.) This one makes me feel both positive, and negative. I think it has to do with the words being used, and the imagery being used. -
