Thread Topic: Talk about strange human behavior here.

I've noticed that people tend to wish for whatever they don't have(like dark-haired people usually want light-colored hair and vice versa). Can anyone roughly explain this?
-
We simply want what we don't have
-
Sniperlazy NewbieIn most cases we desire what we will never have
-
Alright, here's a list.
-We are excited about the thrill of the chase (Dating wise)
-We believe if being accepted by the individual we desire, it will add value to us or validate us (Also, dating wise)
-It will satisfy our ego
-We struggle with low self-esteem
-We are attracted to the unknown, or unpredicatability
-We want to fulfill a fantasy
-We must prove to ourselves and other, we 'deserve' better
-We unconsciously placed superhuman characteristics on the object we desire -
The grass looks greener on the other side. Everybody always wants the opposite of what they hsve. For ex. I have dark hair and I'd kill to be blonde. One of my friends has blonde hair and she'd do anything to have my dark hair.

We all want what we don't have, have what we don't want.
I would literally sell my soul for straight hair. -
I agree with what everyone else said. Wanting what you dont have.
And once you get something you've been longing for, you find something else you want and think about it and focus on it a lot.
In some ways this is good; this behavior causes us set goals and dreams for the future. If they are rational wants its good...
