Thread Topic: Do you believe in alternative dimensions?

O.o do you think that the whole universe is like a giant book and that each page is like a dimension, and just like in a book, the dimensions are all different?
O.o I know this is commonly asked, but honestly i've just been hit with this information from previous science teachers and today by my chemistry honors teacher when we were talking about atoms and space molecules.
O.o what do you think about the dimensions? -
Honestly the idea of dimensions isn't exactly the way I'd put what idea you're trying to convey unless you mean dimensions by the fantasy genre definition.
using the scientific definition, dimensions are ways in which you can move. String theory and others have stated that there are more than the 4 dimensions (up-down, left-right, forward-backward and time) we experience normally, and in my case I think there is. On the other hand, there are the other type that are scientifically more known as "parallel" or simply "other" universes, which I also believe exist. -
I believe that alternative dimensions exists as many theories and scientists says that on Earth we have 4 dimensions, namely, length, breadth, heigth and time (which we experience) but in the universe there can be more than 5 or 6 dimensions. The blackholes act as a bus between to stations and thistwo stations are dimensions, though many people argue at black holes working like this.
I, too, believe in parallel universes but I am not sure of it. It is not impossible but we can't say because nobody has ever went out of our universe, neither men nor telescopes, not even the Hubble Telescope. -

@Jeeshan. THAT'S WHAT I MEANT! .o. das how the teacher in eighth grade explained it, but I wasn't paying much attention back then.

I don't understand that meaning though...I'm sorry, but I have been learning about this type of thing extensively for like, at least 5 years so people who explain it like that, I just have to say, you've completely lost your mind XD that explaination is like a completely changed version of an actual theory .-. Though I think I may know what you're talking about but the dimensions as in ways to move has nothing to do with it....
