who finds it exhausting to have to smile at everyone?
No, I'm not "negative" or "moody" or whatever words you want to throw at me. Not most of the time. I'm just honest.
When I see someone I don't know on the street, I don't smile at them. I keep my expression plain. It's not that I don't like them- I don't even know them- it's just that to me, a neutral face is a neutral face.
It feels incredibly fake to me to smile all the time. And I feel it in return- I get so disappointed when the people smiling at me are just faking it. To me, a smile means something. It means you want to have a conversation, you want to get to know me, you like me. But to most people it seems to mean nothing.
And that's why I find it so tiring to smile and laugh all the time. It feels forced. I only smile and laugh when I have a genuine reason to. -
Not that anyone's gonna understand this, though. I'm just defective.

I'd like you to look up a man named John Kevin Hines.
-
I'm not depressed.
-
So I can see you still haven't actually read anything about it. Find what is note said.
-
I did read about it. It's a guy who survived suicide.
-
" Find what is note said."
-
There's a note?
Where?
Seriously, if you're trying to get me to read between the lines, I can't do that. I've never been able to do that. -
He wrote a note saying that if just one person smiled at him on his way to the bridge that he wouldn't jump.
Sometimes the smile isn't for your own enjoyment. Sometimes it doesn't matter if there's a reason for the smile or if it's fake. Sometimes the fact that they smiled at all is what matters.
Every day I smile at people I don't even know. I smile at people who seem bitter and cruel. I compliment people and I start conversations with people I do not know. Because it doesn't matter how many people think I'm fake or creepy. If I help one person then that's good enough for me.
And that's coming from an a--hole. -
Just what I already knew.
-
What do you mean?
-
There are some people I see in the street etc that I just want to give them a huge affectionate smile but I don't cuz I don't want them to find me creepy. Though I'm with you on this, it's impossible to fake smile at everyone.
-
Though I believe it's a good deed to smile at people like Bob does. How do you know, it might make someone's day. I'm just too awkward to do it
