You know, I really do find the internet to be an amazing place. There's been nothing like it in history, and probably will never be anything like it in the future, so experiencing it first hand is something truly remarkable.
One of the things I love most about the internet is the anonymity. We're all seen the jokes (on the internet, no one knows you're a dog, etc) but I feel this aspect is neglected by most people.
On the internet, you can completely change who you are. Any ties you had in real life: beauty, social skills, friends, jobs; all these disappear, and you are allowed to create an entire new persona for yourself. It's amazing.
And I'll never understand why, when given the choice to change who they are, people default to either stupid (exhibit A) or edgy (exhibit B.) Always stupid or edgy.
There's a statement to be made here, but I'm not smart enough to find it. What ever happened to just being yourself?
