Extreme capitalism gives big business control, whereas extreme socialism gives big government control. I'm sorry, but doesn't a happy medium, a balance, seem like a much better idea? .3. Where, yes, there should be certain rules in place to keep crooks out, but not so many that freedom is taken away? Why is everything in politics taken to such extremes?

Extreme socialism doesn't really have a place in American debate at the moment. Obama's policies have been branded as extreme socialism, but they aren't. As many of my libertarian friends have pointed out, Obama is very corporatist. That health care bill that was supposedly a government takeover? That was really just a shameless giveaway to the health care industry. The economic policies of the Democrats are a "happy medium" of sorts, but you might be more interested in libertarian policies. Libertarians argue against regulation that favors government control, but they also argue against the corporate welfare provided by the government that allows for corporate control and has essentially turned Washington into a money launderer for special interests. Hope that helps.
