Here's what signing up with Oxfam does:
- Protect humanitarian aid and funding for global food programs for the world’s poorest people
- End Trump’s tax cuts for the ultrarich and corporations
- Demand a ceasefire in Gaza, Israel, and Lebanon—including the safe return of hostages and access for humanitarian aid
- Defend workers’ rights and fight to raise the minimum wage and guarantee paid leave
- Safeguard our climate, air, and water—and continue to fight to ensure polluters pay their fair share to help communities most impacted by climate change
- Oppose any attempts to reinstitute a Muslim Ban or use refugees, asylum-seekers, or immigrants as political pawns
- Defend women's rights, including reproductive freedoms, in the U.S. and around the world
- Stop attempts to isolate the United States and pull our nation out of critical international pacts like the United Nations and the Paris Climate Agreement
- Speak out against President Trump’s dangerous authoritarian actions and efforts to silence dissent or shut down the right to peacefully protest

I'm seeing a lot of argument over the economy, which I get. But.. Wasn't Tr*mp literally like... Bad debt too?
As of July 20, 2020, debt held by the public was $20.57 trillion, and intragovernmental holdings were $5.94 trillion, for a total of $26.51 trillion.

We were still in massive, trillions of dollars into, debt. Our economy may have only been good during that time due to Covid; everything cost less during then.
When the pandemic began in 2020, inflation initially fell as many people reduced their social interactions and lessened their consumption of in-person services.

Inflation is less of a presidential issue and more of a supply-demand and wage issue. The wage issue is a simple fix (up the minimum wage), and Republicans do not think this will work because it'll feed into inflation.
Vice President Kamala Harris said for the first time Tuesday that she backs hiking the federal minimum wage to at least $15 an hour
(Source)
Two-thirds of American voters favor raising the federal minimum wage to $15, including a majority of Democrats but less than half of Republicans.

Maybe I think more about civil rights and people than I do money, but based on my research and what I find out with professional .org sites that are updated by professionals and various news articles... I dunno. I'll always lean a little more democratic and way left, as long as those focus on my most important values of equality and civil rights. -
Things cost most = Make sure we're paid more for the jobs we do
But apparently that's not an option...
So, uh, any Republicans or conservatives in here, I do ask... If you want to be paid the same, even though inflation makes everything else cost more, would you be okay with $3.10 an hour, like in 1980? Before inflation? After all, if hiking the wages would increase inflation, then we should just stay at where we were, right? How about even earlier? $0.30 an hour, in 1940? Is that okay?
I'm just saying, upping how much we're paid is the smartest thing to do. Money costs more now, meaning we need more money to afford anything.
We're gonna find out really fast that we still have to work 3 jobs to pay for housing and food, let alone any other thing such as healthcare or bills. -
I get agitated easily over politics because, to me, I feel there's only so many moral choices. So, my apologies for spamming up the threads in here.
Hate is not a moral choice, bigotry is not a moral choice, crimes are definitely not moral choices, and I stand firm that who you support reflects the kind of person you are.
It's easy to say "I support *this thing* of Tr*mp's policies but not *other thing*", but at the end of it, he's still a r*pist and a major bigot who threatened lives and safety. There are people deleted their social media accounts over fear of being put into camps for being openly trans or gay.
Sure, maybe you think the economy might improve, but that also reflects yourself too. That you think that having a few more dollars in your pocket is worth more than millions of lives. Of course, as mentioned before on this, that isn't even a guarantee due to how inflation works, so we have so many lives and rights on the line for a possibility?
But, yes, I do know I've been getting easily agitated and spamming up the threads, I'll try to stop doing that so others can speak up properly as that is only fair. But just be it known, I do feel that your choice reflects you, whether that choice is good or bad. You can regret choices as well, that also reflects you just as much, if not more.
I get this agitated over it because it directly effects me and others I am very close to. I'm AFAB, on the enby spectrum, and queer. My friend is a girl and a POC. We both are in very real potential danger because of some tangerine. Danger that stretches as far as to the chance of imprisonment and camps, just like WW2.
Like, I'm sorry if you thought nothing bad would come out of your choice if you voted for him. Something bad comes out of it, that may not affect you directly but will affect many people around you. That reflects you as a person, and it's not a flattering light. The amount of times I've already heard about active g*n threats of Harris won from Tr*mp fanboys is baffling to me.
This is one of those things that we can't change and fix now, we just have to wait it out. This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, but again, I am very upset and passionate about this and probably will be for a while. -
i love how american nazis, actual NAZIS, support Tr*mp and no one sees the issue
-
i forgor that other places are much safer with guns then americans are.. cuz here it's okay if someone is dying, a kindergartner is scared to wear light up shoes cuz it'll draw attention during a sh00ting, lgbtq+ kids are k/lling themselves, women are actively being r@ped at gunpoint, and poc and lgbtq+ are at high risk of being m*rdered as long as the old white men can own a hunk of metal you can stick a smaller hunk of metal in. you take that hunk of metal away and that's a violation of rights. the rest of the stuff is just "deserved" but you can't take their guns..

okay, here's an idea:
LET'S NOT MAKE STUDENTS PAY FOR FOOD AT A PLACE THEY LEGALLY HAVE TO BE AT
We can up the taxes the extra $2.30 or whatever in America to pay for the food i promise -
Important values of mine more people should probably agree on
1. Everyone is equal. Yes, everyone. LGBTQ+, POC, women, genderqueer and trans people, etc. They are all equal and we shouldn't think otherwise. Treat everyone like someone with feelings.
2. Student's shouldn't have to pay for food at a place they legally have to be at. Many students can't have food because they can't afford it. -
(Altering to #1. everyone is equal but some people are a little bit worse, like rapists. in that case, lock them up tight)
