Memey title to lighten the mood somewhat, please remember that there is a living breathing person with feelings behind every screen!

My main issue is the Christian Centering that keeps happening on here. Calling issues outside of your religion Demonic is not okay. It's hurtful, and it hurts that despite bringing it up multiple times, I was ignored and just asked to instead "prove my truth".
-
I don't think that there has been a strong ethos argument made yet that proves the claim that other religions are demonic. What reason does fifidee or I or anyone else have to believe you have the authority to make such a claim when you haven't read or demonstrated a mastery of the material you're making a claim against?
(I'm using "you "pronouns nebulously here, with no reference to any one user) -
^^^
Secondly, with a lot of the rebuttals made my summer, mint and myself being even refused to be read. That's not really fulfilling to the discussion to be completley honest.
I'm not sure espie actually knows what she's debating against. Or any of the information she's quoting. -
I don't think that Espie was making the claim that all religions except Christianity are demonic, but that Satanism is. Satanism, no matter what it may practice now, has always had demonic roots which is present in both the name "SATANism" and the use of Satan as a sort of mascot for the religion.

Spice, she called irish traditions Demonic.
-
Alrighty then, I'm gonna need a little more context. What were the traditions mentioned that she had an issue with?
-
Also, in terms of decorum. Moth, the original owner of the thread opened up with explaining what the religion was and that they've been considering following it.
And then months later, out of nowhere without anyone at all mentioning Christianity, espie comes in calling practitioners of an atheist religion selfish.
Also, if you want to talk about roots we can start discussing the roots that Christianity borrows from too. If that's where you really want to go? Religions change with the times. It can't be that way for one and then not for another.
Satanism uses iconography to promote rebellion against authority. Its a classic image
Have you ever read paradise lost? That's what it's about. It doesn't have satanic roots, it's using him as a symbol.
Also Satan =/= Lucifer. Lucifers the fallen angel, and the demon of pride. Satan is Wrath. Different guys. -
[ same imagery, BTW. They fill similar rolls and are interchangeable but. They're seperate in the lesser keys. Which is where demonology comes from [ King solomon]

Spice I've said it numerous times ðŸ˜
Halloween. She outright called Halloween Demonic
Halloween derives from Samhain. And important holiday to the irish pagans. It has been conercialised in recent years but it was one of many, many religious practices demonised by catholism during their conquering of Ireland. This is common knowledge. -
Also before I forget, I did some research and found something interesting. The author of the Satanic Bible, LaVey quote "praised the human ego for encouraging an individual's pride, self-respect, and self-realization and accordingly believed in satisfying the ego's desires." and "He stated that self-indulgence was a desirable trait, and that hate, and aggression were not wrong or undesirable emotions but that they were necessary and advantageous for survival. Accordingly, he praised the seven deadly sins as virtues which were beneficial for the individual."
Those beliefs are at face value quite self-centered, emphasizing the individual and disregarding what benefits society at a whole. The focus on self-pleasure and the dismissal of hate and aggression seems like a recipe for a bad society. I was wondering what you guys might think about this, and whether you agree or disagree with LaVey's mindset? -
Its not even just Halloween. Almost every holiday celebrated their is pagan in origin.
Ironically, she included Christmas which was made into a Christian holiday to dissuade, I believe a roman holiday to the sun? -
Ohh, alright I think I get the context. Modern Halloween has people dressing up as things like demons and such, which many Christians frown upon. If I'm not wrong, the original Halloween was for keeping bad spirits away which may have to do with "demons", depending on your interpretation, but since it's about keeping them out it doesn't seem demonic to me.

Church of Satan or the satanic temple? Because summer mentioned there was some problematic dude in an actual cult of satanism so idk if that's the relevant religion but-
Yeah, he's wrong and right. We need to be selfish sometimes. We need to put ourselves first in certain occasions. Sometimes it's okay to be angry. Sometimes it's alright to be sorrowful. And experiencing healthy amounts of the 7ds, is normal. Its human.
It's when you harm others that you cross a line. Also self-realisation is a good thing. -
Also, if you want to talk about roots we can start discussing the roots that Christianity borrows from too. If that's where you really want to go? Religions change with the times. It can't be that way for one and then not for another
Christianity "borrows" roots from Judaism because the journey of the Hebrews is part of the story of Christianity, in addition to the fact that Jesus Himself was a Jew (at least in flesh), so Judaism and Christianity both have similar foundations. It's not about Christianity taking from Judaism culture, it's about BOTH religions ultimately having the same source if that makes sense
