Currently, Australia is part of the Commonwealth, with the monarchy being in charge. If there was a war, Britain could bring Australia into it as an ally and the Australian government wouldn't be able to say no. What if Australia became a republic?
-
ACK ACK THE RANDOM R IN THE TITLE SHOULD BE REPUBLIC.
-
Lol.
I'm not an Australian and I don't know much about the law differences from the UK to yours but if being part of the CommonWealth is stopping you too do things then I fully support you being a republic otherwise I would say stay. By the way, just out of interest. Is your King, King Charles? -
Yeah. Did you know that on King Charles' coronation, it was ALSO Meghan and Prince Harry's kid's fourth birthday? Nothing was posted on the royal social media pages about this. Is this just a coincidence, or on purpose?
-
No, I didn't know that! I'd say it was a coincidence as I don't think they would purposely ruin a four-year-olds birthday. I'm surprised it's not in the news!
-
I saw it in the local newspaper. Little Archie is sixth in line to the throne. I don't think King Charles would forget about his birthday? Out of all the days of the year, why that day?
-
I don't think he chose the date of the coronation and also they wait a bit because of Queen Elizabeth's death so Charles could not feel like he was replacing his Mum's throne.
-
Good point. It'd be a wild coincidence, though.
So, should Australia break away from the monarchy and become a republic? A lot think so. But what about the financial side of things?
We all know theres a cost of living crisis. -
At least, the journalists on TV love talking about it...
The cost of living crisis, I mean. -
I guess. I mentioned it on my first post on this forum but I don't really want too get into other countries politics in-case I upset people.
-
Fair enough.
