Oil comes from plants, bacteria, and algae, which were all once living. So according to the definition of a fossil fuel, oil is a fossil fuel

this computer is really f---ing laggy -
let's assume the big bang theory is true. If oil forms after millions of years, i find it hard to believe we only got ~250 years of oil

I am going to say my argument here. I do agree with you Ravager that climate change is not the worst issue right now. It certainly is an issue, but the problem is that our government is spending so much time and money on climate change that they are neglecting other crises that need to be dealt with. Also, if we're talking about fossil fuels, I want to say that our government touts electric vehicles and wants to make two thirds of all vehicles electric by 2032 BUT the batteries from electric cars come from fossil fuels too! And the manganese for the batteries is mined by CHILDREN in poverty-stricken countries. Sooo are they a better choice for anyone? I don't think so. That being said, I am all for recycling and all that to try to prevent landfills and stuff, but the reality is that anything we do in the US and the UK and places like that isn't really gonna make a difference because its places like China with their unsafe factories that make the biggest emissions, and therefore harm the environment the most.

oh yeah i forgot about that -
Actually, the US is currently responsible for the most CO2 emissions, before even China.

Also a reminder that many countries including the US and Canada ship a lot of their trash to the Philippines and other southeast Asian countries to make our landfill pollution statistics look good.
They do it under the guise of selling "recyclables' to other countries, and then when those things aren't actually able to be recycled they end up in the ocean. -
oh yeah, my mom told me something similar

I'm gonna post my point of view on climate change here. Because of climate change, the water is rising a few millimetres every year. This may not seem like a problem, but entire islands have become inhabitable. I find it hard to believe your statement "Climate change isn't an issue.".

The climate cycle:

Pretty sure China is responsible for the most CO2 emissions nowadays. That chart took a very large year range into consideration and that’s why US is at the top. However, the US has significantly reduced its emissions and while of course it could be better, China has surpassed the US in emitting CO2 nowadays. I think it’s somewhere around China produces 30% and the US produces 18% followed by India, then Russia, then Japan.

"Over the past 30 years, the number of people living in coastal areas at high risk of rising sea levels has increased from 160 million to 260 million, 90% of whom are from poor developing countries and small island states. For example, in Bangladesh it is predicted that 17% of the country will be submerged by the rise in sea level by 2050, and 20 million people living there will lose their homes."- World Economic Forum
