Sorry for spamming the wine cellar. I've noticed this topic is something that people on different sides of politics disagree on which is rather fascinating to me.
I know that none of us are economists or anthropologist but I still think that your opinions are valuable and I am curious as to what you think regarding replacement theory, having children, economic impact etc.
Do you think that having kids is irresponsible or an essential responsibility? -
I think having kids is perfectly fine, there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. it's an essential responsibility, and it teaches the parents patience.
im actually more concerned about population declining, since some political leaders are concerned about world war three, and putin threatening to nuke everyone -
Overpopulation. Countries are already facing the issues brought by having more people than can be reasonably sustained. It is currently an issue
-
overpopulation for sure
I think it'd be curbed pretty easily by giving everyone safe and easy access to abortions, better sex ed, and just in general changing how people view having kids
I don't think it's necessarily irresponsible to have kids so long as you have the resources to raise them comfortably and a mindset to give them a loving, safe and accepting home, but it definitely shouldn't be an expectation -
We got quite a lot of people but we also have quite a lotta space, and if we run out we'll just boot some out to a new planet
We certainly don't have a lack of humans right now tho -
honestly the only places that i'm certain are "overpopulated" are china and tokyo so idk

I think overpopulation is a problem, but I’m not one of those “quit having children” people
I absolutely don’t think having children/how many children you have should be regulated or controlled, let people do what they wanna do.
I also don’t think, though, that there should be shame for not wanting children or not having them.
Back to my first statement, I think overpopulation is a problem, but I don’t think it is incredibly imperative to start dealing with it now. Just cut back on fossil fuels and some other stuff, and the earth will continue to thrive with whatever amount of people live on it. (I would elaborate more, but that would make this one post like 3 essays long)
