Thread Topic: Genuine question
-
I'm curious to know which one you guys think is worse: Racism or sexism.
I'm genuinely not sure myself so I want to know what you guys think.
I think they're both bad but, again, I'm not sure which is worse. -
Prejudice is prejudice.
-
I'm leaning towards that as well tbh
but I wonder if one is worse than the other
CAn you tell I'm mildly scatterbrained?

I'd say both are equally bad but racism is taken to further extremes than sexism
-
Part of me wants to say sexism is more common due to how many cultures exist and how many discriminate against one sex/gender (I.E. islam), but another wants to say that Racism is more common due to the number of races.
-
You really can't quantify which is worse. All you can do is ask yourself what you're doing to make things better
-
you know, maybe i shouldn't have made this thread... Wasn't it Morgan Freeman who said that the best way to deal with racism is to do more and talk less?
Then again, I can't really do anything about it. I'm still in High School :WHEEZE: -
So!
You actually can, you could:
- participate in peaceful marches
- participate in community projects
- volunteer in shelters for youth/adults affected by these issues
- look into signing petitions to change laws
- educate yourself on the issues so that you can support classmates, friends and others affected in communities
- donate some of your allowance to groups that aid
- write letters to your state representatives and government officials.
There are many ways that a person can get involved in activism. I'm chronically ill and often can't actually leave the house but I'm still able to participate through spreading information, and supporting those affected.
Simply debating others, and asking their opinion on something that can't be quantified [ as mint said] is not activism, and it helps no one.
I understand feeling helpless in today's political and economic climate however, you can always do something to demand change from your local government, and support the people around you.
This is not meant as an attack, or to critiscise you. This is simply informing you for what you can do. -
