You know I think that when feminism, which seeks to make men and women equal, fails men or women in a certain aspect, it is totally understandable for another movement to emerge to try and fill that gap.
I don't know much about men's rights movements but I do know that men are dealing with a lot of serious socieoeconomical issues that feminism doesn't address like custody, mental health, and men's sexual abuse.
As a female I definitely notice when guys are belittling me because I'm a girl, but I have a hard time identifying with feminism because despite what they preach they really don't help both genders out equally.
I expect that to be a pretty controversial take. I'm willing to talk about any counter arguments. At the end of the day, whether or not men's rights groups are a good or bad idea is irrelevant. My point is that if you don't think that sexism against men exists then that's a problem -
It’s not that I don’t think sexism against men exists. Just like racism, there is sexism against both of the sexes, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s equal.
Often times men try to use the topic of ignorance of mental health and sexual or domestic abuse to disregard women’s rights issues. Of course that’s not true in all cases and I can say that by first hand experience, but women have been discriminated against since the beginning of time, so I feel like a masculism movement would be counter productive in a way and just create more internal issues between the sexes if that makes any sense. -
I feel like that should only be a thing if men were in the same position that women were right now.
Not saying that men don’t experience sexism or whatever, but if feminism gets to the the point of “girls aren’t just equal to boys, they’re better”.
