Thread Topic: So there were two suicides at this high school

And one of them was the best friend of one of my former acquaintances
So yeah
Kinda glad I don't go to school there
Because apparently horrible stuff must go on there for two people to up and kill themselves back to back
Has this been happening anywhere else? -
Not Anywhere Near Me, Apparently.

The high school I used to go to Had a student commit suicide during spring break. They kept his suicide low profiled because it was off campus and because the suicide would bring a bad image to the school.
Close friends of that student said it was because of stress, depression, and loneliness. They also felt bullied at school.
As expected the media didn't get involved with this suicide and no one did anything and the school didn't change.
Schools should have an assembly talk about depression and stress and listen to the bullying people claim happens and actually approach the situation instead of ignoring it. -
Yeah same, I can't find any online articles about the suicide, I just know from my mom's FB friends whose kids go there. Pretty scary and sad at the same time.

Proof that loneliness causes death

I don't know how much the actual school had to do with the student's death, teenagers kill themselves all the time. you've probably heard of the teen suicide epidemic? yeah
my school has a bunch of s--- in place to try and prevent people from killing themselves. I go to a pretty progressive school so yeah. teachers listen close to what the students are saying and if they hear you saying something about hurting yourself they'll tell the counselors and send you there. there's suicide prevention hotline posters all over the school, at my tech center too. but all of that doesn't stop kids from killing themselves. I know of ONE suicide at least from last year, but only because I know people who were grieving over it. they don't announce deaths and I don't know many people so there's no telling how many suicides there were.
there's also a mental health hospital in my city that's almost always full or overcrowded, and always understaffed. unfortunately I went there for a while and there were some kids who had to sleep on mats in the waiting room because there weren't enough beds.
anyway, my point is that the teen suicide thing is huge and adults do care, they are trying to stop it, it's just that they don't always have the resources to do the best job they can. also, people die more often than you think and there's probably been a couple suicides at your school, maybe not this year but you'd be surprised to learn how common teen suicide is.
ultimately, you can't linger on it too long. I know that's cold of me to say, but if you just keep on thinking and keep on thinking about someone's death, it's just going to bring you down. a girl I knew died of a heart attack between 7th and 8th grade and it f---ed me up for a while even though we weren't close friends, because I still considered her a friend of mine and I couldn't believe another kid could die like that. in the end I had to accept that things happen and obsessing over it doesn't help. similar thing when a girl I didn't know killed herself my freshman year. it shook me up but I had to move on. I'm guessing this is your first encounter with suicide which is why you're making such a big deal out of it, but this isn't a new thing, and it isn't going to end anytime soon.
as for is it happening anywhere else? yes. everywhere. it's a big issue. -
Dude I know suicide a big problem and that it exists everywhere, it was just kind of shocking that the high school is super close to where I live. All the stories I've heard so far are from Texas or California--way out there, not 2.6 miles from my house. It's not upsetting or anything since I don't go to school. I don't care about it that much, just trying to be relevant I guess

You asked? so stop acting like a brat?
