It just seems like the laws about it aren't enforced very well. :/ The guy across the street from my grandma actually used to have a puppy mill in his backyard, and the police didn't know about him for quite a long time. If you don't know what a puppy mill is, it's basically a bunch of wire cage-ish kennel type things raised off the ground, and the owner breeds the dogs and sells them, buuuut he doesn't care about their health. They were uber skinny and their water was green a uber yucky, and Rose (my grandma owns her now, thank goodness ^^) used to be attacked by larger dogs while she was there. When my grandma went over to talk to the guy about buying some of the dogs, Rose had a one-day-old puppy. The guy didn't think either one of them would survive, so he just gave them to my grandma for free. And they're both still alive, and actually doing very well. xD
But it bothers me that he was there for so long and the police didn't know. >.< What do you think? -
Well it was your job as a civilian to tell the police that. Or get your parents to. The police can't magically find out about the puppy mill, someone has to report it.

tongue ExperiencedAnimal cruelty should be a felony. All that happens to abusers is that they get their pet taken and they aren't allowed to own pets as part of their probation. We need to let abusers know that animals have feelings and that cruelty is intolerable, and sending them to prison is a pretty good way. Michael Vick's attitude towards animals changed completely after he went to prison. Imagine how many abusers would change their mindset if they all went to prison.

I HATE anyone who is cruel to an animal! They have rights too! If someone abuses a person, they get thrown in jail. Why can't that be true with animals? Just because they have a hard time communicating with us doesn't mean that they don't have feelings too....

I hate animal cruelty. Like, I swear if I saw someone hurting an animal, I would murder the person -.-

tongue ExperiencedHere's a crazy double standard: If Kaitie did that to someone beating a person, she wouldn't go to jail. But if you murder a person to protect an animal, it's voluntary manslaughter and you go to jail. Ain't that just a load of bulls---?
