I've been trying to research this kind of thing but I couldn't really find anything else about it, can anyone try and find more information on this subject? -

maybe you have trouble finding content on the matter, because the matter doesn't really exist in a significant form.
That being said, I would definitely just look more into google. put in a search for "gender ineqaulity in the animation world" I guarantee there's about a hundred and one sources of info (legitimate and drummed up) for gender inequality on every possible situation. People are totally obsessed with the idea of being discriminated against right now.
if you really, truly cannot find anything further online, then take it old school, go to the library and ask the ladies there for material on gender studies. browse the collection until you find a title related to you interest and go from there.
