It generally mystifies me that people are just so uncaring about who's leading their country or state or even their city. Everyone usually argues that one vote won't make any difference, but by giving up your right to vote, you're depending on other people to make the decision for you. And when they make a decision that you don't like you b---- and whine about it, but whose fault is it really to blame? Yeah, you can say it was just one vote, compared to the millions who did vote, but if you say that for every single person, no one would vote. That is such a lame excuse for not voting, same goes for generally not caring. That just leaves the people who have power to do pretty much what they want to do because you're not going to say no. "Oh, I don't care about politics" well you should. Do you go to the pharmacy for medicine or go to the doctors? Do you have opinions on hot topic issues like abortion, racism, lgbtq+ rights? Are you a single person struggling for work? DO you go to college? Or just straight up, do you live in that democratic country? Then you should care. Else wise you are refusing your right to a voice in your country which so many people before you have fought so that you can have it today. Do yourself a favor and get your voters license and vote next election.

The problem with that is, using the first past the post system means you're highly more likely to elect a leader you (and the majority) don't like even if you do vote, if only because of Gerrymandering, the Spoiler effect or your own two party system.
Why throw away your one and only vote on a person you know won't win, especially when everything is rigged against you because of the faulty system? -
The system of electing leaders in this country is so rigged and corrupt and driven by corporate money that the will of the people is hardly ever represented. If anything the people who vote are most apathetic, they fail to see just how f---ed up the system is and how little it does to help the majority of people.

What both these guys said^
not to mention one vote really doesn't make a difference.
all of that aside, local officials impact your life FAR more than the president. Honestly its nothing to worry about
