Today in Tuscon Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), along with six others, was shot in the head while hosting a "Congres on Your Corner" event at a Safeway when a gunman ran up shooting. At least three other people in her staff were shot, she was shot indiscriminatley while talking with a couple.

I saw that on the news, I live here.

tongue ExperiencedAnd she's a Democrat? First thought: it's radical white conservative terrorists- you know, the Tim McVeigh types, the John Birchers. It could be drug cartels, because it is Arizona. But with three acts of terrorism on consecutive days(the packages intended for Napolitano and the governor of Maryland), I feel like it's something bigger.

That's crazy s---. So what happened with the gunman?
-
tongue ExperiencedAside from speculation as to who did it, this is absolutely tragic. It's a completely senseless act of violence. This is a big deal. I'm not really sure how safe America is right now.

They killed a 9 year old girl :(
-
I heard that on the news! I felt so sorry for the nine year old girl.
Although they had said that Gabrielle Giffords was dead, then they said that she was being treated in hospital so is she still alive?? -
I'm not sure if it was a some radical white conservative terrorists. She's a moderate Democrat so she's probably pissed a few on the left before too. Drug cartel is also a strong possibility, since I've heard before that this lady is for securing the border.
-
Yeah she is still alive I like music.
-
tongue ExperiencedI'm pretty certain at this point that the gunman was a right-wing radical. Giffords was targeted by the GOP in the last election for her vote on health care reform. Also it's Arizona, and there aren't too many radical leftists living there. And really, there's a much greater history of violence on the right than there is on the left- Tim McVeigh, abortionist murders. There was violent rhetoric for a time from the left, from the Black Panthers in particular, but there aren't any signifigant instances of Panther violence.
-
tongue ExperiencedHonestly, I don't feel that comfortable debating who shot Giffords. The idea of speculating over a tragedy doesn't sit well with me. The real lesson to learn from this tragedy is that we need to remember that no matter our differences, we all share the bonds of humanity. White or black, liberal or conservative, we have to live together. No excuses, no "yeah buts". I'm just really sad that blood had to be shed for us to realize that again. Everyone's hands are dirty- we created this.

Tounge I have a question for you
-
tongue ExperiencedYea what's up?
-
Why don't you talk in offbeat? or like in a normal convo? lol
-
tongue ExperiencedCould you have asked that question in a less serios forum? People died. This isn't 9/11, but it's big.
