But hey look, im perfectly happen not moving on from the obvious nonsense of this, if you want someone to indulge illogical repetition with actual study, look at bobs post. He's a nicer guy then me.
-
Im perfectly happy that is. Any questions?
-
Funny how you're calling me illogical, when I'm sitting here thinking the exact same thing about you.
-
Im not calling you illogical, im saying the statement your backing has so many holes that you don't need to step outside simple reasoning to combat it. Like I said, I have a great deal of respect for you. Just not this argument. Which is a very tired, and often seen subject. For me anyway.

I'll tread lightly here because I can see the conversation is being heated. First of all, I want Slim and James to both know that I agree with their positions to a point. But it is important to note that blacks and Hispanics have much higher poverty rates than whites, and they have a lower percentage of high school and college graduates. I don't believe that is entirely because they are more lazy than whites, I think at least some of that has to do with history and with the structure of our society, that blacks and Hispanics always seem to be largely relegated to the worst housing and the worst schools and that the only jobs open to them are the ones that white people don't want. This goes back to the post-WWII era at least, probably even post-WWI when blacks first came from the South to cities like New York and Chicago, and in my eyes at least, it seems like this has never really stopped being the case. The government has tried to use affirmative action to get em out of the ghetto, and it has worked to a point, but it is a Band-Aid on a broken leg. There's only going to be equality of all people when no people are forced to live in substandard housing or send their kids to ineffective schools or go without proper health care. And I say all people because poverty isn't just limited to blacks and Hispanics. So yes, you are right in saying white people have problems to, but those problems are multiplied in the black and Hispanic community.
Asians however have the lowest poverty rate and highest level of educational achievement of all races in this country. So that might throw a bit of a wrench in the argument. -
Tongue, I agree with what you are saying as well to a point. I can't speak for Tony, but I can say that my intention was not to undermine the idea that racism exists against others. My intention was to show that through our societies desire to over correct said issues, they have created new racial boundaries while barely effecting the old ones.

Personally, I think we need to address the underlying issue of capitalism and its hierarchies before racism and such will ever truly go away. After all, such boundaries are often formed around lines of property. Who owns it, who doesn't.
But that's going off onto a tangent. -
tangent, but still relevant.
How much do you feel property affects racial boundaries?
