IHLAOY NewbieBut that's contradictory. You can't have a civilization where the focus is on the collective interest yet still focus on the individual, because working for the collective interest means having to give up individual interest. That's what the term collective interest means, the interests of the many outweighing the interests of the few.
And what if in individual aspiration works against the interests of the collective? Simply because they can work together doesn't mean they always will. Hell, correct me if I'm wrong, but how can you even have a collective of interests if their is going to invariably be conflict within it? Who judges what is best for the collective? Is it the collective itself? Wouldn't that open itself for error on issues within the collective? Or is it a simple 'majority rules,' situation, which opens even more problems.
Please understand I'm not trying to be against you or anything, I'm legitimately curious here. -
I'm just saying you can support the idea of the collective interest without being a Borg, that's all.
-
And nowhere did I say focus on the individual. To the contrary.

ALL THESE REVOLUTION THEORIES ARE SO CONFUSING.
ALL THIS ANTAGONISM AND CONTRADICTION. WHO DO I SUPPORT.
...just questioning Trotskyist theory over here, THANKS MAOISTS.
Although I think I'm still sticking with Trotsky. The arguments I've seen so far appear to misunderstand Trotskyist theory. I'm not sure, though, is it their argument or mine which misunderstands Trotskyism? I think it's theirs. Yeah, it's theirs, I've never heard a Trotskyist say what they just said all Trotskyists say. -
Why do you have to subscribe to one theory? Why not just take what you believe and smash it together to make Appaism? :3
-
I plan to do that, actually. Theories are just confusing the hell out of me, though.

I sound like a Libertarian sometimes.
Always talking about "the people," despise Obama and the politicians, proud not to be a liberal, believe there's a parasite class and a producer class (which is taken advantage of)...
...but I say these things for completely different reasons than they do. -

"a communist society is moneyless ("a classless, moneyless, and stateless social order" -- Wikipedia), so there are no prices of goods. instead, there are just free stores, free cafes, etc, without money ever changing hands. might be helpful for you to read the descriptions here. without private property, there is no incentive to horde or take more than you need, since there is no artificial scarcity and no ability to resell items. there is marginal incentive not to (specifically, social pressure and rational social interest). thus, this tends to create a weak preference toward frugality, which is how free stores function."
This is one of the best things I've heard. -
