Extremists are really goddamn annoying.
When I say "extremists," I mean those who hold an opinion so strongly that they cannot be budged and insult anyone who holds a slightly different opinion.
"Oh, YOU'RE one to complain about extremists."
Maybe I do hold a "radical" opinion, but that's not the only defining trait of what I'm talking about. I'm talking about those who can't hold a respectable debate because of their "radical" opinion.
I always follow a debate when I see an opinion similar to mine, being interested and all to see how they roll with it, and it looks good at first, they're strong and dedicated to what they believe in. All's good here.
But then the one they're arguing with (if they're from a similar opinion, say maybe two Marxists are arguing and they're of different tendencies, or maybe one is a bit less extreme than the other) says something that the other side disagrees with. In a respectable debate, we'd observe the opposing party simply explaining why the other is wrong, but no, we get this bulls---:
"f--- YOU YOU f---ING f--- HOW DARE YOU CALL YOURSELF A REVOLUTIONARY YOU CAN'T SUPPORT THIS MINOR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MY THEORY AND YOURS BECAUSE MY THEORY IS THE TRUE COMING OF MARX AND f--- YOU YOU BOURGEOIS SOCIAL DEMOCRAT REACTIONARY f---."
As you can see in this exhibit, this Marxist cannot support their opinion without ad-hominem attacks and accusing the other of being a crappy Marxist, or rather, a traitor to Marxism itself.
I understand believing in something strongly enough that it pisses you off when someone disagrees, I understand thinking that the other party doesn't fit their supposed description, but we all interpret things differently and minor differences are not enough to justify this sort of arguing.
Instead of arguing about categorization of the opposing party's political beliefs, how about we ACTUALLY DEBATE REAL WAYS TO REALLY SOLVE THE WORKING CLASS'S PROBLEMS KTHXBAI.
It's not just Marxists that do this, but it's mostly Marxists and as such they make a good example. -

I agree big time.
when it's coming from people who aren't usually associated with you it's just annoying.
When it comes out of people you're connected to in some way it's just emberessing.
