Why don't we change the system so that we don't need to give people food stamps?
-
How would that be done?
if we got rid of da mexincan illegals there'd be jobs open -
My illegal immigrants are taking jobs no on wants. It's like the spoiled little child that only cries for a toy he never uses it when it's being given to someone else.
-
Considering the unemployment rate of americans there are no unwanted jobs.
-
I see a whole lot of Americans that sit on their ass all day when there's places hiring. Weis, Kmart, Walmart( always in need of staff, never turns away applicants), Burger King, pretty much any farm you can get a job at just to name a few. The unemployment rate would significantly decrease if people just got off their lazy ass and at least got a job at a f---ing walmart. It might not be your favorite job, but it's a JOB.

And if welfare wasn't cushy they'd have to find work.
-
I think that instead of just giving so much welfare to people, we should be helping them find jobs. A lot of the people that are on welfare are, how do I put this lightly, losery(for lack of a better word) low people that don't have a good education. Like the saying goes: you give a man a fish and he's fed for one day, you TEACH him how to fish and he'll be fed the rest of his life.
-
The problem isn't that welfare is cushy, it's that the jobs available pay so little that working has no incentive.
Anyway, on the actual issue of food stamps, I think it is necessary if imperfect. The average food stamp recipient is eating on roughly four dollars a day. So let's not act like they're living off steak and lobster. And without the program, you would see mass starvation in this country. -
You do realize that many of the families on such benefits have children, disabled, or elderly depending on them, right?
Let's say you're a social darwinist and don't care about the weak, okay (except that's not okay but that's for a later time), but the children still have potential to be strong.
Children can't get jobs. Unless you want to move backward and send them into coal mines again.
See the problem yet? The parents may be lazy, but taking the benefits for the children away won't change that.
