Thread Topic: I am ashamed to be an American

America being a free country isn't working. Because that means religion cannot be brought into politics. Which means things that X religion doesn't support would still have to be legal because not everyone is that religion. So then the people of X religion are ashamed to live in a place where those things are legal. And they have no say in it without bringing religion into politics. America should be colonies with a different religion in each colony. The "lets all live in peace together" is s---. Do you think X religion people are proud of where they live when terrible things are going on thr go against their religion? No one should be forced into religion. And no one should be separated from their family due to different religions. But if they want to stand for their religion, they will move to their religion's colony.
I'm currently ashamed to be an American. -
Well get over it. Life isn't fair, so people in X religion need to get over it. I mean seriously things won't go your way, you don't run this goddamn f---ed up country, so get over it.
This is my point on this. If you're ashamed to live here, then why stay here? I chose not to continue being both Methodist and Baptist. So being forced into a religion does bother me. Let me do my own thing, believe in my own stuff.
I however am not ashamed to be an American. I live in a place where women have rights, where somewhere else, I would have to hide my face and not be able to voice my opinion. I'm lucky that if I stole something( which I never would) I wouldn't have to have my hand cut off for it.
So damask be grateful you're an American. -
I think you may like Saudi Arabia a little better. Sure it's a different religion, but politics and religion are one in the same.
But seriously, get out. I don't want you in my country if you think religious fascism is "the way". -
The reason people say they don't want religion in politics is because it comes down to decision making. The whole abortion thing, yes, there are people who don't have a religion but disagree with it. It's the fact that those who have religion say that its wrong because God put that baby their.
But I do agree with the post above, when your of age, move somewhere you will be happy. -
I don't run the country either. My views on politics are not implemented everywhere and accepted by all. In fact there are no places on earth which truly follow my ideas. But I'm not "ashamed to be an American" because of that.

We can't run a government based on religion, just cold hard facts
-
Ashamed to be part of this earth
Instead of trying to have a "place of peace where everyone can live together" I'd much rather live in a "place where people aren't messed up" (and not just messed up religion-wise )
Yeah I'd love to go somewhere where I'd be happy, but that would have to be like a Christian island or something. Or just my bedroom with the door locked xD -
You know, once upon a time, most of the world was Christian. In fact, religion and politics were one in the same and the church ruled the government.
Those times were called the dark ages. And they set us back technologically hundreds of years. -
Once upon a time I put my headphones in with Christian music going into my ears and locked my door so I didn't have to listen to you.
That solves everything. -
*claps* It's been a while since I've seen the ostrich response.
"If I stick my head in the sand and ignore everyone else, they'll go away."
That isn't defending your God very well now is it, damask? What ever happened to never backing away when someone else insulted your deity? Closing your door and hiding away sure would make him proud, huh? -
Nope it's a terrible way.
It's childish.
But it's what you people wanted.
You wanted me to stay out of people's business religion-wise, keep my religion to myself (that's where the headphones come in) and altogether shut up if I don't have anything non-religious to say.
BTW that doesn't work; the people never go away e.e -
Just saying, but if you put earphones on you can still read Bob's posts. Gotta blindfold yourself.

Welcome to the land of controlled movement.
You need a damn passport to change where you permemenatly live.
Except for those damn mexicans who are sneaking in and making democrats a permenent fixture. -
I would never move to a different country but I'm not going I say why because I'll sound racist.
Yes I'm aware of that, Vik. It was kinda a figure of speech...er....I don't know how to explain what I'm trying to say so never mind. -
Damask: Why wouldn't you move to another country? I would love to know. Also, I think you'd like my country if I may say so myself. :)
