  For the record, Green, Libertarian, Democrat and Republican are American parties. The general equivalents would be:
  Green- environmentalist party. Focused on the environment, left-wing stance on social issues. Somewhat but not entirely anti-capitalist. More centric economically than most left-wing parties.
  
  Libertarian- The party for people who hate government and love capitalism/free market.
  
  Democrat and Republican both look center-right from my point of view, the Democrats being more left-wing socially and typically supporting things like abortion and gay marriage while Republicans do not. I can't say what the equivalents would be but that's kind of an explanation.
  
  This was from my point of view. For a less biased point of view, Google is your ally.

  Libertarian's don't hate the government, that would be Anarchists. Libertarian's just want a smaller government.

  I generally choose based on the side I wanted to win last election. For example Obama Above McCane because McCane was insane, and Romney over Obama because of how much america got messed up by him.
