"Today we'll start reading a new novel." The man brought out the book he had, and an extra copy as well. "You've probably heard of it, an Old English story called Beowolf." Lucas mentally groaned. Not being a native English speaker it'd be even harder to read since it was older text. "Don't worry, Lucas. I think you've progressed far enough to read it. If you have any trouble you can always ask as well."
-
Wesley wanted to say something, but was embarassed. He didn't know how to read..
-
"What's wrong, son? Everything okay?" The tutor asked kindly. Lucas after a moment figured out what it could be, and turned to the old man. "He hasn't read in a while. We could find a different book, to refresh his memory and stuff." "Ah, of course. Beowolf is certainly a harsh book to start reading out of nowhere." The tutor nodded. "Let him borrow one of your older books, then. He is a new student after all."
-
Wesley gave Lucas a look of thanks. He was so happy to have such a nice friend.
-
Lucas returned his look with a smile. He was more than happy to help. He took out an older book and handed it to Wesley, whispering to him when the tutor turned his back. "Just pretend, I'll tell you the story later."
-
Wesley nodded. "Thank you." he said with a grateful smile.
-
Lucas nodded happily, then turned back at the large book before him. He muttered under his breath, "Verdomme..."
-
Verdomme. xD
Wesley sat there and pretended to read the book. -
Dutchness. ^^
Lucas went about reading the beginning of the book, sometimes needing help from the tutor. Soon the class was over, and the old man packed up his things. "Try to get to chapter 2, both of you. Have a good day." When the teacher was gone, Lucas groaned. "So difficult..." -
Wesley was just staring at the book in front of him, trying to force himself to understand the letters on the page.
-
Lucas looked back at him, taking out the paper again. "Would you like me to teach you?"
-
Wesley nodded. "Please? I'm sorry I'm so dumb.."
-
"You're not dumb, Wesley. No one ever taught you these things, so you're not dumb at all." Lucas began to write out the alphabet, both with capital and lower cases letter next to each other. "Here, I'll show you the basics."
-
"Okay." Wesley said. "but can I do something first?"
-
Lucas nodded. "Sure, what is it?"
