Are you alright?
-
Mr. Scott told me that you shouldn't clean your brush. He said that with different colors in the brush, it's better. So I'm sorry but I'm going to listen to him. I'm not washing my brush like art teachers in schools say to do.
-
Atm, I am.
-
I didn't wash my palette for a while, and my paintings had different colors to them.
-
That's good. I don't wash my palettes either, especially my watercolors.
-
I don't wash mine (which sound really disturbing) either. I was working on this new painting at school. It was the forest, and I worked really hard on it. But my art teacher said that if I keep painting like that, I will never become a true artist.
-
Om... don't let me get started on that...
The whole point of being a true artist is finding and doing your own techniques to make your art successful with what suits YOU. If there are students who actually listen to teachers and follow their way, then there's no creativity. It just makes you not want to do it at all. Everyone's art will be the same and we don't want that. -
You don't have to was your palettes. But if it's a totally mess, I would.
-
I had to wash them. Everytime I painted, it would be brown. I made a painting out of that. It looks really different, but I want to go back and paint something else.
-
And thank you for saying that. When it comes to art, that's where I get to express myself, and how unique I am. A few years back, I would get bullied because my art was so 'dark'. They said how could I become an artist when I can't paint a pretty picture?
-
I see.
What type of paint is it? -
Eggshell? I think. I knew what I was doing, and the type. I just was really depressed, and I express myself through art.
-
Don't listen to them. Your art is yours. You can do whatever.
Not every artist paint "pretty pictures". The painting, "The Scream" by Edvard Munch isn't very "pretty" xD but it's interesting because of the principals and elements the artist use. He used what he liked and has his own style. Everyone has their own style. Your style can be dark.
Eggshell? What..
I meant oil, acyclic, watercolors etc. I've never heard of eggshell..
A lot of artists express themselves with their art. Don't stop just because some people don't understand nothing about art. -
Eggshell is a type of paint. More durable than flat, eggshell has a slight sheen. Always check the exact finish because the degree of sheen varies between manufacturers. It is most commonly used on interior wood surfaces as an alternative to semi-gloss, although some manufacturers will specify that the paint may be used on exterior surfaces. Eggshell can also be used on wall surfaces where a hardwearing finish is required as it is easier to clean. Two coats will usually give an even color; use primer and first coat as required.

Oh I see what you're talking about now.
