I believe it's somewhere along these lines:
Respect all elders until they're proven they are unworthy of respect, at which point, you are free to glare daggers whenever you see them.
^Parents are the only exception and are to be respected regardless. -
I don't like or respect my parents. I just don't swear in front of them because they'll slap me.

All people are different.. I love my parents no matter what they may do, and I will always respect them.
But you have good reason, Niecey. I'm not sure I could continue on my set path if the things that you've gone through happened to me. I see nothing wrong with how you are. -
Good for you. It's nice that you have a nice connection with your parents.
I hate my parents and part of me always will, but I'm trying to mend some of it so last year doesn't repeat. I just don't respect most people. -
