"When I asked the neighbors about it, they said that they had left without a word. As far as everybody else knew, they could be anywhere. But they did mention that after I disappeared, they were distraught and spent a lot of money trying to find me.." he said, his voice getting quieter. "I had tried to travel back, but I was so new at it back then, it was a year before I was able to make it back to my own time." he was whispering now, and he could hear tears in his own voice.
-
Shiloh felt his heart sink, lightly wiping away tears from Conner's face. "Don't worry, love. We'll find them. They obviously want to find you as well...maybe there a way we could get a hold of them on a larger scale...? Does your world have a way of communicating with large groups of people?"
-
Connor took a deep breath, trying to stop the tears. "Well, there's television."
-
Shiloh held him close, giving an optimistic nod at that. "Good, then we could use the television to get in contact with them?"
-
"Maybe. It would be easy enough to relay a message to America, but if they moved out of the country, it'll be harder." he said.
-
"We could try though." He took Connor's hand, looking at him lovingly. "I want you to be able to find them again. I'll do anything I can."
-
Connor smiled at the young man. "Thank you, love. But we can't go yet. I still have to heal and get some energy back before I can time travel again."
-
Shiloh nodded, kissing his cheek. "Of course, take as long as you need. I want you to get better."
-
Connor nodded, staring at the ceiling. "I never thought I would love you so much when you were just a kid on the other side of a wall."
-
He chuckled, resting his head on his chest. "Neither did I. I thought you would just end up passing by after staring for a while, like everyone usually does."
-
Connor chuckled. "Well, as you know now, I'm not usual. Very far from it."
-
Shiloh nodded with a soft giggle. "Very far from it, but that makes me love you even more. You're perfect the way you are."
-
"Thank you, love," he said, running a hand through Shiloh's soft hair.
-
"You're welcome." His eyes moved toward the window, evening light seeping through the curtains. They must have just been there lying together and talking for quite a while. "Hey, I could call someone to bring dinner here if you want. I don't think you should move really in this condition."
-
Connor smiled. "That would be nice. Thank you."
