He hadn't realized he'd been holding his breath until it all came whooshing out of him at once. A smile sprawled across his lips. "Really?"

She smiled sweetly at him. "Yes."

His smile widened. "Wow."

"What?" She asked.

He shrugged. "I don't know, I just feel really happy; happier than I've felt in a long time. It's nice."

She smiled. "I'm glad."

Adam sighed. "I guess we should be heading back to school, huh? Or is it too late to make a difference?"

"Too late, might as well walk home from here.."

"Okay, that works," he agreed, beginning to walk alongside his friend as they journeyed home.

They walked along silently.

Adam kept his eyes trained on the pavement, tuning out everything else but Zara and him. "Will your parents find out that you skipped? I don't want you to get in trouble."

"Not like they'll really care.." She muttered.

His eyes widened as he thought of parents. "Oh, shit... My mom's going to see me and flip."
