"Up for skipping? They won't notice anyway." Adam eyed his friend, smiling a bit.

Zara smiled slightly. "Eh...what the hell?" She said, leaning against some of the lockers.

Adam chuckled and chucked his books back into his locker. "We could head downtown and check out that new icecream place. I heard they have some new shops, too. The spring formal's coming up. I could help you find a dress."

Zara raised her eyebrows. "You want to go dress shopping?" She asked in disbelief.

"Hey, hey, not like that!" He raised his hands up in a weak defense. "Let's face it, I know what makes a girl look good. I just thought I could be of some help." He shrugged, smirking. "If not, could we still grab some ice cream? I forgot to eat breakfast today."

Zara rolled her eyes. "I wasn't planning on going to the formal anyways, but ice cream sounds good." she gave a sweet smile.

"Let's go before class lets out." He led her over to the auditorium and through the back, where an exit remained propped open to circulate air in the stuffy school. He slipped out and waited for her to follow.
"And you're going to the formal," he added, giving her a serious look. "It's all part of the high school experience. Even if I'm not, you are." -
I'll be gone for about 30 minutes, the duration of the drive home. I'll be back ASAP. I might be able to reply once or twice more before I have to leave.

She followed him. "No, I'm not." She said, pouting. -
Back. We ran into some traffic.
Adam shook his head. "You're going to the formal, Zar. I know I seem like a hypocrite, but you have to go. I would, but you know how my parents are. They'd never let me buy a tux, even with my own money." -

Zara sighed. "It's not like I have a reason to go." she mumbled. -
He chuckled and grinned. "Oh, trust me, you do."

"And that reason is...?" She challenged.

Adam just smirked. "I'm not permitted to disclose that information at this time." They reached the ice cream parlor within a few minutes. Adam pushed open the door, causing the bell to jingle lightly, announcing their entrance.
