At what length is a song considered short? I have one song that I'd love to sing for the casting directors; Skyscraper by Demi Lovato. Before you go criticizing my choice, let me explain my reasoning. It goes as follows:
1. Vocal range. This song starts at a very low vocal reach. By the end it reaches a higher range, probably around a high soprano. This is good a) because it can show off my vocal range and b) shows that I'm not afraid to go out of my 'comfort zone' when it comes to singing.
2. Emotion. This is key. When directors are looking for someone to cast, they need to be able to feel the emotion flooding out of them, both physically (expression, posture, etc.) and through their voice (tone, diction, volume, etc.). This song starts off very mellow and a bit solemn, but over the course of time it has its various rises and falls in emotion. At the end, the volume is intense, as well as the overall feeling of 'you can't tear me down.'
By choosing a song with both strong vocal and emotional aspects, I can put my best foot in the door towards being selected.
But I have one major problem. Skyscraper is around 3:42... Is that too long for an audition? On the casting call they specifically state a short song. So, that's where you guys come in. What length do you consider 'short'? -
I dunno! D:

thisismyquiz JuniorFirst off, awesome!
Second, 3:42 is a little long for an audition(but thats just my opinion)
Good luck!
P. S. I don't really consider any length if time "short", I'm not exactly sure.... But yeah, I hope you do well.

Thanks.

That might not be of much aid, but I don't know.
