I smiled back. A different waitress came and gave us our food.

Thankfully, it was a different waitress that brought their food. He picked up a french fry from his plate and ate it.

I picked up my sandwich and took a bite. It was good but had a weird taste to it. I took a drink of my Sprite and shrugged it off.

He ate another one. He usually ate the french fries first.

"Can I have one?" I gestured to the fries.

He pushed the plate toward her. "Sure."
