"Uh... sure." He nodded.
-
"Yay!" Ireally needed a change of clothes and a few books. I wouldn't be able to last long if my only entertainment was looking at the scenery...
-
He glanced over at her. "So where do you want to go, then?"
-
"Hmmm..." We were passing through a small town. There was a thrift store. "Let's go there," I said, pointing.
-
"Okay." He pulled into the parking lot and parked the car.
-
I unbuckled my seatbelt. I got out.
-
He followed her toward the store.
-
"Wait!" I ran back to the car and tried to open the door but it was locked.
-
"Hm?" He walked back over, picking the lock on the car. Since it was stolen, they didn't have the keys to open the door. Successfully picking the lock, he swung the door open.
-
I reached in and got it. I blushed. "Forgot my purse, sorry."
-
He nodded and shut the door.
-
I walked in the door. The place was pretty big and it had this country charm you only find in small towns. It was all a dark-stained wood. There was two stories, with the upper like a ring around the lower.
-
He stood in the door for a moment. Outside, there was a stack of newspapers. On the front page was an article about Nataly being captured. He grabbed the top paper and walked back to the car.
-
"Look at thi-" I turned to see Mark had gone back to the car. I shrugged and walked up to a worker. "Miss, could you please show me to the books?" She was old, probably seventy, and had glasses hanging off her neck. She squinted at me and gave me a curious look but then led me to a section in the back of the store.
-
He sat in the passenger seat, reading the newspaper.
