I decided to try to go up the stairs anyway, "where are you?" I asked

"In the corner."

I followed ian's voice and bumped into him by mistake

I sat still.

"sorry" I quietly said, I couldn't see anything, I ended up stepping on ian's foot by mistake, I didn't know I did, but I felt like I stepped on something, I backed away a tiny bit so I wouldn't bump into anything else

"If I fall asleep the darkness consumes me."

I didn't really know what he meant, "what do you mean?" I asked

"If I fall asleep I die."

I was a bit nervous and confused, "how?" I asked, I never died in my sleep

"The shadows eat me."
