The hearts racing around you,
young love, innocent eyes.
These frantic little children,
who know not yet to despise.
The air of joy around you,
tangible in the breeze,
as they act out their proposals,
joking boys on their knees.
Roses handed off,
swift kisses in the hall.
Chocolates for your dear ones,
the song of happiness for all.
Even those who feel such sorrow,
cannot deny the joyous day.
And have to smile for the world to see,
all sadness dealt away.
Valentines day, with pink hearts all around,
the most soothing shade to me.
Even I, who opts for shadow,
know that the love of today is key.
It protects us from the world,
gives us one day from all the rest,
when love can truly be free,
and has ripened to it's best.
When people can be happy,
perhaps this joy you feel is mine?
This site can feel the love too!
