My hands went tense. Really really tense. "Oh, no its okay. Don't be sorry."

"If it makes you feel any better... My parents left me after... Nevermind." I stared at the tabletop.

"After?" I asked quietly.

I continued to stare at the table, focusing on the woven fabric of the napkins. "... I just... Don't want to talk about it..." I shyed away, a turtle receding into its shell. The memories still hurt, even now, ten years later.

Our food came. I took a sip of water, an awkward silence passing between. Ziggy and me.
