It's sad because the people that kill the language are around my age.
I'll sometimes use 'y' 'u' and 'r' when I'm texting my phone, because I only get some much space to type. -
And i'm on my phone...

You have space though. My phone only let's me type 140 letters (spaces included). But that's only when I'm TEXTING other phones.

I personally don't like modern American culture, but since I live in it I deal with it. But I agree, I don't like it.
