So, I went to my cousin's house, and unexpectadly we got hit the worst with Hurricane Irene. All day, from the minute we woke up (yesterday), the power was out and the wind was blowing. My dad thought it would be okay if we went home today. Well, what was supposed to be a 3 hour ride...doubled.
We got off of the mountain and got to a stoplight and saw firefighter guys. They told us that the next three towns that we had to go through were UNDERWATER from the hurricane. Now I'm scared that something's going to happen. So, we go through windy back roads for about 3 or 4 hours, avoiding the closed highways. I swear, nothing but down trees and power lines and rivers going through the streets.
Finally, my aunt directed us to an open highway in my state, and we made it back to our development. As soon as we turn onto the main road in my neighborhood, there it is. A down powerline and a down tree and another closed road. Even my little little little sister was just like FAIL. Everything at my house is okay, I'm just exhausted and I'm so happy that I have electricity now to be on GTQ and use the potty. -
