Hey everyone,
This is Alana, in case you didn’t know. But of course you do, since it says so in that little user window thing. I went to the hospital yesterday. I'm alright, but I think you should know what happened. We were at Fenway Park all day, my brother's baseball team was chosen for an all day clinic with the Red Sox. At around 6PM I started to feel... odd. Really odd. So odd that it wasn't funny. Sweaty, nauseous, achey, dizzy, confused. My mom asked about a First Aid place and then they brought me down on a stretcher, which was a little much, but I guess they had to take precautions. At the First Aid room they gave me this medicine and some water. I got really shaky, dizzy, and nauseous, not to mention my stomach pain was getting worse. I threw up twice, and they had to hook me up to an IV. I was stable, but I really needed it. They had a policy that if a patient needed an IV they had to go to the hospital. An ambulance came, and I was driven to Boston Children’s Hospital. Don’t worry, I wasn’t rushed with the sirens. Just driving at a normal speed. I was brought to a room, and I rested a lot. Then they came in and had to take my vital signs like blood pressure, blood sugar, pulse, etc. The doctor came in and evaluated me, and they gave me another bag of fluid. I got blood taken out, but they ended up not needing to test it. At the hospital, I threw up about 3 times. But before that happened, I was treated and they gave me some juice and crackers. I ate them and felt fine, so they discharged me. On the way out, my mom stopped in this food place in the building called Au Bon Pain. I started feeling REALLY nauseous then, so they had me readmitted. I threw up once then. After a while I fell asleep, and when I woke up they had me try to eat some popsicles. I was okay, and I was feeling a lot better. They had me get up and walk around, but then I threw up twice. It was around 4AM, so they decided it was best if I got discharged ASAP so I could get home. My dad and my brothers drove to the hospital from where we had the car at Riverside T station. I slept until they got to the hospital. The nurse gave me some medicine before I left to help my nausea and stomach. I was really dizzy, so they wheeled me out in a wheel chair. For about 3/4 of the drive home I slept. When I woke up, I was okay until about 10 minutes away from South Windsor. I threw up twice. Thank GOD my mom asked for a bucket for the drive. When I got home I was overall MISERABLE. I cleaned myself up, brushed my teeth, and climbed into bed. It was around 6AM when we got home. That was the CRAZIEST day of my life. When I woke up today I was a little better, but not by much. The thought of eating food right now makes me feel sick, so I’ve just been drinking water. I’m REALLY tired, but I know I’ll be okay. The nurses and doctors said that it was a combination of dehydration from being out in the sun the whole day, possible food poisoning, and exhaustion. I should be better soon. I don’t want you to worry, though. I’m fine right now, but I should really get some rest. The people at the hospital and First Aid place were very nice, and that’s what made all the difference. The worst thing EVER is to be really sick and have a snobby person take care of you. Yesterday was by far one of the most scariest and hectic days of my life. I love you all, and I hope to see you soon.
