Hi all.
Our aim on GoToQuiz as moderators is to ensure the safety of our user base at all times where we are able to. As GoToQuiz is a website designed for people both under and over the age of 18, it is important that we keep in mind at all times, that minors (who are a large majority of our user base) are present on this website. As people in a position of power and with an age dynamic over the majority of the user base it is important that we keep our respect towards the younger members of our community while still being able to maintain their safety in regards to the expectations of a moderator.
What does that mean?
There is a difference between being friendly and available to help as a trusted member of the community versus forming close dynamics with younger members of the community wherein, a high level of trust, dependency, codependency and closeness is encouraged into potentially unhealthy dynamics for younger users. As adults and people with higher authority, this creates a power dynamic that younger uses may potentially fall into as feeling more pressured to listen to, obey, or be overly personal with private details of their life to. Younger users may fall into habits of viewing somebody in this dynamic as a figure that they need to be excessively dependent on or who holds emotional closeness to them similarly to that as a parent or older relative which is unrealistic of the true dynamic at hand. While intentions may not always be bad or good/intentional or unintentional with these situations- regardless of motives- we have decided that the comfort and safety of our minor user base comes first.
That being said, the majority vote of the moderation team has decided to terminate a member of our team from the group. The moderator The Coldest Sun, now more formally known as makegodcry or Road, has been elected from the group following moderator concerns and varying user accounts of discomforting experiences. As with most situations, the users who came forward will remain anonymous and their experiences protected.
We are committed to actively working to remain equal judgement and decision towards our team as we do towards the user base. Situations like these are required no matter if the individual is a moderator, troll, or user- no matter how unpleasant the news may be for everybody else. On behalf of the majority ruling who have made this decision, we aim to continue ensuring the comfort and safety of the minors and user base of this community as a top priority in our decisions.
