Hey everyone! If you weren't aware, this week is Transgender Awareness Week. This celebration was made to memorialize the victims of transphobic violence. It is concluded with the Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th.
I also wanted to use this as a chance to remind you all that everyone is welcome here and that even if you aren't able to truly express yourself at home or in your real life, you'll always be accepted here -

just confused is all -
The Transgender Day of remembrance was started to honor a trans woman, Rita Hester, who was murdered on November 28 1998
So it's in november because that's when she was murdered, but I assume it isn't the actual date she was murdered because it would overlap with Thanksgiving otherwise -

Awarness weeks for anything doesn't have to have a specific month. Yes, Pride Month is June, but there were other events for the LGBTQ+ community throughout the year. It didn't all happen in June. -
