yeah I'm bored of the other thread and I didn't even get around to answering any of those ones
so ask me whatever you want and I'll answer honestly. just make sure you adhere to site rules ❤ -
What is ur fav movie
-
Fried Green Tomatoes
It's lost a little bit of its luster since I read the book, which was significantly better, but that movie was way ahead of its time and I love vintage lesbians lol -
I’ve never heard-
What’s it about? -
I mean I could look it up but you seem pretty bored so I just asked you instead
-
lmao that's alright, I think asking someone that's passionate about a piece of media is a really good way to learn about it and them
So without giving too many spoilers, because I truly hope everyone watches this movie at some point, it takes place in the south, post-slavery but segregation and lynchings are still a thing that happen regularly. It centers around two women named Idgie and Ruth. In the book, it's explicitly stated that they're romantically involved and I love that for them, but in the movie it's only subtext. Really, really heavy subtext. LGBTQ+ representation can be so buried in subtext it still has plausible deniability, but even considering how old the movie is, these two are obviously in love, even in the film. I love that. Ruth marries a man that ends up murdered, which is a big plot point, who done it and all. On the side, as a story-telling device, there's also the story of a middle-aged modern woman trying to make peace with the fact that she's growing older and save her marriage with a man that doesn't believe in putting in effort. She befriends an old woman in a nursing home, who helps her grow a lot as a person. I want to tell you so much more but honestly, you just gotta watch it. The only real drawback to this movie is the white savior complex, which isn't present in the book at all. The black characters are cool and believable, but not developed as much as one might prefer and kinda seem to serve the purpose of show-casing how good-spirited our main protagonists are. Don't care for that. -
What's your dream job
-
that one's easy lol
I want to be a famous singer -
Similar to what Mint said, but
What do you like to do for fun or in your free time? -
Hey Alex! Welcome back.
I really like to sing, listen to/find new music, develop original characters, watch anime, cook, drive around, and hang out with my girlfriend. -
Thanks Road!
The first two I kinda assumed. I didn't know you liked to cook. -
lmao yeah, I think anyone would assume those at this point
but yeah! I love to cook. I aspire to open a diner with my girlfriend when we get more financially stable. We made fettuccine alfredo from scratch the other day, at her sisters request, and some brussel sprouts that are absolutely f---in delicious. Last night I made a sweet potato beef hash? Kinda? I'm not sure what to call it, but it was really good and I'm pretty proud of that lol
I also make really good homemade fried chicken. :) -
Ooh, that sounds really good. I learned how to cook when I moved out here.
-
That's great! What's your favorite dish to make?
-
It has to be chicken. Put some chicken breasts in a buttered pan and add seasonings. It tastes amazing. Just don't overdo the salt.
