Thread Topic: Re: Member Intro Thread

Hi y'all I've been debating asking this but does anyone else feel like it might be time to restart the official introduction thread? I feel that it's once again become cluttered, and the link in the first post is no longer functional.
I'd like to see how everyone else would feel about archiving that one and having a new one made. I would link the old one.
In addition if it'd be okay with the mods, I'll occasionally go through and find all the obsolete intros that need to be deleted? (Reposts, 1-day new users, ect) I had suggested something similar bad when we made the current one- or reposting instructions/guidelines on ever new page. At the time I was told it wasn't plausible but I wouldn't mind being the one who does it, if it keeps the thread from becoming so cluttered.

I think another thread is a good idea. I've been debating redoing my intro but wondered if it would even be relevant in that thread with it the way it is.

I do like the idea of making a new one. It might be a good idea if we made a new one like... once a year or something. A lot of people come and go so that would help prevent the thread from filling up with inactive users
I also do occasionally go through and delete any repeat intros that I can. If you ever notice any, you can definitely let me know so I can send it to the mod server and we can work on getting them deleted (since each mod can only delete 3 posts a day) -
I like the idea of an annual remake :)
It's not so much the repeat ones as the ones for accounts that only made like four posts and then became inactive. I think checking once every like month or so for any of those would keep it free from clutter -
Yeah, a new one could work, though I always feel like we should try to keep just one for the sake of the older users that really only pop in every once in a blue moon, I could imagine having to make a new intro every time you come back makes you not really want to come back. But I doubt that's enough reason to not make a new one. Just a thought that always hits me over the head when something like this comes up lol

Yeah that is a good point alex
-
We don't have to delete it..simply unpinning it and starting a new one would work
-
My thought was that we'd link the old one in the new one.
-
By deletion we were talking about individual posts.
-
That is true, and is the main reason I said it's probably not a strong enough reason to prevent a new one from being made, just include a link to the old intro thread and technically the issue is fixed. If someone sees someone they don't recognize they can just go look for them in the old thread if they don't find them in the new, but I don't feel like in practicality that's all that different. Since, I mean, how likely is someone to actually do that? And when someone comes back and sees that there's a new intro thread, they'll probably just make a new intro anyway, so if both happen then the situation is mostly indistinguishable.

I could go either way with it. I think if we kept up with purging it of obsolete introdutions occasionally, it would be enough. & request that people have their old intros deleted before posting a new one.
-
We will be remaking it this time, but I'll wait to see what everyone else thinks before deciding on an annual remake.
If a mod could contact me on discord to proof read my posts for the thread? I believe my tag is porcelain#1085 but im not positive -
