The three we had were named Chewy, Remy and one I can't remember the name of right now. Remy and the unnamed one died last night because I was stupid enough to not check the heaters for them. It's all my fault.
I miss Remy so much. She was the one I named and the cutest baby in the world. I should have checked the heater. I hate myself so much for letting them die.
I'm never going to get over the guilt of letting her die. I shouldn't have gotten f---ing attached to the dumb birds. -
I'm sorry for your loss. I know what it's like to lose a beloved pet. I understand how you feel that it's your fault, but you shouldn't be so hard on yourself, especially since you're young and if that was your first time having chicks. It is also excruciatingly difficult to take care of baby animals if you're not used to it. It was a lapse in judgment not to check them, but all you can do now is learn from your mistake and keep it in mind for future reference.

Thank you...At least I know now that I should be more careful.
At least one is still here, and sooner or later we'll get her more siblings and be more careful with them. Hopefully my sisters won't take it any more harshly than me and my mom did. -
Too bad that the chickens that we're about to get are too old to put with Chewy. Hopefully she'll be okay for now.

I’m so sorry about your loss. Seeing that is not a pleasant sight to see at anytime of the day. It hurts, it really does.
You did NOT let her die. It wasn’t your fault that the babies passed.
Not a lot of people know how heated a heater can really get. And even if they do, that’s okay. Things like this happen sometimes and the best thing to do is learn from it.
I’m going to assume that when you got chickens that was the first time you came across those things that warm the babies up? I think what you’re talking about are those lamps that give off a red light?
Something similar happened to our first lot of chicks one time because my family didn’t know how hot the lamp got. So to stop this from happening again we got a brooder plate. It isn’t as hot as the heater lamps can get, but it gives the babies just enough heat. Maybe you could look at that if you don’t want to use to heat lamp again.
But let me repeat this.

This happens a lot, believe it or not. It was an accident. I know the babies knew you loved them. They are really smart for babies. They knew you wouldn’t have done anything bad to them on purpose.
It wasn’t your fault. I promise you, it wasn’t.
This is your first time having chicks. There are still a lot of things to learn when it comes to poultry.
But know that if it happens again, it isn’t your fault. It’s HARD to care for chickens. -
We actually have a sort of heater that the chicks can go under to get warm, not a lamp. The problem was that it wasn't on, so the chicks froze to death (it gets as low as 20 degrees up here). Sorry I didn't specify.

Other than the headache that's slowly going away, I'd say I'm doing a little better, so hopefully I'll forget about it for a little while🙂 -

Chicken Nugget, or Nugget for short.
