Do beans belong in chili?
-
Banning anyone who says noModerator
-
Only if you put them in your chili.
-
Yes, they belong in chili
-
i don't see why, beans and chilli are two different things.
-
Some people put beans in their chili as an ingredient
Some people are vehemently against putting beans in chili.
I'd like to see who says what and why -
Is it canned beans?
maybe it's the way people like it. -
Wait aren't you supposed to put them in
-
Exactly SprinkledSpice. Exactly.

The argument of chili with no beans is that chili didn't originally have beans.
The name of the meal is actually short for 'chili con carne,' which translates to, chili with meat.
(Personally I think that's sort of a weak argument because if that's the case, it wouldn't have a tomato base, it would just be a bunch of taco meat.)
The other side of the argument says that chili was a poor man's meal. Since beans are cheap, nutritious, and taste good with it, so why not? -
Hm.
-
Yes and No.
Depends on what the chilis for ngl.
If its the mean dish? Then yeah put beans in it
If its a topping then f--- no do not -
Yes I meant the dish lol
-
Depends on what beans it is.
-
I don't have a problem with people putting beans in their chili if they want to, but I don't like them in mine. I have no stance on whether they "belong" in the dish.
