That quiz was way too long.
Looks like I'm actually really close to being a projector
They said if your result is positive then you're a projector.
I got 0.83333.
Except there were a lot of ones I didn't know how to answer because I'm trying to relate color on a paper to air in a sky.
You know, questions like, where is the color in relation to the number?
Like, what am I supposed to put for that I'm seeing stuff in the sky lol -
I believe that specific test might have just been testing for grapheme-color synesthesia, which is specific to characters ie. numbers and letters.
Synesthisa has an incredible amount of variants, and some user experience extremely unique experiences that only they and a handful of other people have. I personally color code all of my memories, which is not technically a recognized variant, but it qualifies because my experiences with it are consistent and involuntary.
So if you have a version you don't see just check for those things. - is it an involuntary, mostly pleasurable or neutral experience, and - is it a consistent thing where your values are consistent with the criteria they are matched with -
I forgot how long the test was though!! I used to do them in class so they didn't feel long because I was just passing the time lol
-
The first dash I relate to but I'm confused at what you mean by the second dash.
-
Oh I mean like say you have music to color synesthesia. Your value would be what color you assign to each sound and your criteria is the sound itself. So if a viola sounds mauve, like it does for me, it must always sound mauve. If your values are inconsistent then you cannot be clinically diagnosed
-
All I know is that the smaller, the colder, the bigger, the warmer. I haven't gone into any sort of, "This length is this temperature, this is that temperature," and so on yet. But I'd say it's pretty consistent.
-
That sounds consistent to me.
I mean I'm personally of the opinion that since there is mostly limited research done in the study of synesthisa, and because it's an entirely personal experience that doesn't affect anyone in a negative way, if you want to identify something as synesthesia go ahead. I'd say you probably do have synesthesia. I get the whole hard to define thing, too. Music has a personality to me and it can be extremely hard to explain why the d chord is mean to the fm7 chord but the g chord is nice to the fm7 chord. Sometimes I don't even understand my perceptions. -
XD you need to teach the d chord some discipline.
Yeah, the definition of it is the crossing of two senses, but honestly there's so many more than just the basic five.
I'm not sure if I'm projective or not.
The only thing I do in my mind is use my imagination to measure it. But I don't necessarily need it, it's just my brain's way of being more thorough.
Like just the other day I looked out the window, and I saw that it looked warm with the sun out, but the air looked sort of...pinched is the best word I can use to describe it, and so I knew that it was actually pretty cold. I didn't use my imaginative measuring tool, though.
When I went downstairs, my mom was like, "It's so sunny outside you wouldn't believe it's freezing." -
So I'm curious how many synesthesia cases do you have?
-
Oh I completely forgot to mention that it also works with objects too.
Like I can accurately judge whether something is warmer or colder than something else. -
I can think of at least 16 off the top of my head. Most are related to color, sound, abstract concepts and personality. I don't have any taste or smell types.
I found this chart too that shows temperature and color being an actual type though! -
-
Mine would fall under vision -> temperature category somewhere
-
And sheesh that's a lot. How do you manage?
-
That's really cool. From what I was just reading temperature is one of the more rare kinds so that's super interesting. I don't have that one at all.
It's very easy for me to manage. Once in awhile I cry because I'm an extremely nostalgic person so that nostalgia coupled with my synesthesia makes me very emotional, but most of the time it's very unconscious. I'll just think "what day of the week is it" and visualize my days of the week racetrack and color guide, or remember people's names because "their name was purple and "j" is the only purple letter."
