The first thing I should say is that none of this has actually been confirmed by a professional, it's simply a guess on what's going on.
Next is that it's not DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder), we believe it's Partial DID, and I'll explain why.
Kai is the main/dominate personality in their body. They function normally in it, and live their life - but usually during times of heightened stress, anxiety, depression, etc., there happens an episode known by some as an 'intrusive episode' is where an alter personality intrusively takes charge of the body and function, typically to cope with the situation. The later can also take charge of only certain senses at time, such as function, or behavior, etc., while another controls the other sections. That's how I know how to explain it, but I don't know if it makes sense to you or not, I'm sorry. -
