In middle school I was home alone a lot, especially at night, but I stayed up really late. Around the same time every single night, whether I was alone or not, I would hear the same knock on the front door. It was usually 12:00-12:15 in the morning but also happened at 1 a.m. once. The knocking was distinct, and couldn't be a branch or anything. It was definitely a knock. I would peer out my window to look for the knocker, but there was no one there. Even when I creeped around to the front door and looked through the peephole, I couldn't see anyone. Nobody else heard the knock when I asked in the morning, as they were usually asleep by then. It scared me a lot and went on for a few weeks at most before I ended up living with my grandmother.
My only explanation for this is perhaps it was someone who saw my mom leaving every night who was casing the house for a robbery, knocking each night to see if anyone was home, then hiding so they weren't seen. But although I never answered, our house was never robbed, not even after I left. My mom thought it may be a disgruntled ex boyfriend trying to scare us or something, but nothing came from that theory. The house is owned by someone else now and used as storage.
What are your weird unexplained stories that still bother you too this day? -
When I was 7, something strange had happened before we moved the next year. It was near midnight, I clearly remember, but not quite. My parents were fast asleep, and I would tip-toe near their room to make sure, since they almost always left their door open (closed when they were changing of course). I couldn't sleep that night. I kept getting chills down my spines and odd gut feelings which I couldn't explain. Later, I heard a cup plop on the counter (or so I thought). I immediately rushed out my room, thinking it was my step-dad so I could have some company. Instead, the kitchen was empty. No cups on counters, no nothing. I checked the cupboard. An extremely dirty and stinky cup with milk in it. Next to it was a pocket knife. I got so frightened I asked to sleep with my parents that night. Dude, even they couldn't explain it and it still haunts me to today

Not exactly unexplained, but definitely creepy
My old school didn't have a gym, so we'd go to public ones for sports practice.
Anyway, I was a little early for basketball practice that day.
I had a little routine where I'd put my stuff in the gym, go to the bathroom, then start practice.
There were four guys doing 2 on 2 there already.
All of them had black hair, pale skin, black eyes, black clothes, and they were BIG guys, both tall and muscular. They looked very similar, but distinctly different.
As soon as I stepped into the gym (not even making any noise) all four of them stopped what they were doing and whipped their heads around and stared at me.
The fact that they looked so similar, and also the strange look they had in their eyes freaked me out.
I decided to go to the bathroom first and then put my stuff in the gym.
When I came back they were gone, no trace that they had ever been there remained.
I honestly don't know what would have happened if I'd stayed. I kind of think they'd just return back to their game, but I also wonder what would have happened if they hadn't. -
So I have 3 porcelain dolls in my room. They're really pretty, but also a tad bit creepy.
All 3 of them were from a lady that loved collecting dolls. Unfortunately she died a while ago.
I always put the dolls in a certain direction whenever I go to sleep. When I wake up in the morning, they seemed to have moved.
One time I was pulling an all nighter. The dolls had been moved to the floor due to my roof starting to leak. (The dolls used to be on my dresser.)
One doll was still on the dresser, mainly because it was where the water couldn't get to it.
I was busy on my phone until I saw something move from the corner of my eye.
The two dolls from the floor had been moved.
One of them was looking directly at me.
Of course that freaked me out, but I thought nothing of it.
I looked at the doll on the dresser to see if she had moved.
She had.
I was really freaked out by that, and just went back to my phone.
Eventually I got tired and went to sleep.
When I woke up, there was paint on my wall. And it hadn't been there before.
So I may have some haunted dolls. :D -
One time I was having a play date with my friend at my house. We were standing in my house’s foyer. My dog was with us. He was facing the dining room, which is connected to the foyer. One of his toys was in front of him. It was several inches away from his paws. And, randomly, it flew twenty feet forward into the dining room. I know he didn’t do it because his paw didn’t move an inch, and because it flew really fast. It cleared twenty feet in less than half of a second. Almost like there was a huge magnet that suddenly pulled it into the dining room. I can’t explain what happened.
