Hi everyone, this is Bread.
After way too long, we've finally determined who has been behind the troll accounts. We've been gathering evidence for months, and we now know for sure that the two users behind most of the harrasment are The Geek (Lions), and Jayfeather310 (Emy).
As for The Geek, Lions behavior as always been a little untrustworthy, and came up several times in the process of investigating the trolls.
When it comes to Emy, we have a lot more evidence. The first big thing to notice is the targets of many of the troll accounts. Besides herself, these accounts were targeting two groups of people: the mods, and users Emy has disliked or had problems with in this past. The most recent example of this was last month when I confronted Emy about why we hadn't taken action yet. Prior to this, I had never been a target for the troll accounts. But the very next day, I was in a poll about who the worst user on GTQ is, along with other users she has had issues with before
Despite the changes made to prevent people from creating more than one account a day, Emy has bragged about knowing how to get past this. This would allow her to create the multiple troll accounts that will pop up at one time.
In addition to this, the content of the harrasment towards Emy was very odd. Many of the topics were things only Emy could have known about
Another example that stood out to us was in the GTQ Discord server. At one point, Emy had posted a selfie and received very little attention from it. When Acrimony posted a selfie shortly after, a troll account popped up harassing Mei over her appearance. This was way too sudden to be a coincidence.
At one point, Emy made a thread blowing up at the mods for not doing anything to stop the trolls. We explained that we were doing everything we could, and several other users agreed with us, trying to explain to Emy that there was only so much we could do. The next day, Emy made a thread claiming she had been drugged and that she had been acting weird because of that. While this doesn't specifically connect to any of the troll accounts or harrassment, it is very strange behavior.
Even though Emy had the power to mark posts as offensive, she never marked the posts harrassing her. She was quick to mark posts from accounts that weren't hers, but she never marked her own troll accounts.
Despite gathering all this evidence over many months, we've been waiting for something to 100% confirm that we were correct. Today, GTQ Guy finally helped us confirm our suspicions. We gave him a list of several accounts used to harrass Emy, and this is what he told us:
This tells us that The Geek created at least one of the accounts, and so did Emy. Although he mentions that EmyisDumb is the only account given that matched Emy's IP, this is takes us back to the method Emy uses to create multiple accounts in one day. Using a VPN allows her to create multiple accounts, as well as disguise her IP so it can't be traced back to her
Because of all of this, we've determined that The Geek and Emy have been behind all of these troll accounts. The only choice this leaves us is to ban both of them.
We understand that this is a lot to take in, and may be confusing. This thread will be left open so you all can ask questions and we can give more evidence as needed. But keep in mind that we will not hesitate to mark or delete posts as needed, so please keep it civil.Moderator -
