A change in the way we operate.
The moderation team at GoToQuiz have decided to crack down on inappropriate behaviour as well as suspicious accounts, posting and how we moderate the website. This decision was made to combat trolls and inappropriate posts which we shall no longer be tolerating from here on out, as a security measure. Some rules may be temporary and subject to change but you are expected to abide by them while they are in place. These rules are not up for negotiation or debate.
Here are the changes we are implementing and which you will be expected to follow:
1. Changes to how we handle new or alt accounts as well as changes to our username policy and guidelines:
New Accounts:
• Any new account that displays concerning or similar behaviour to previous trolls will be treated as a "Suspicious Account" from here on out. Any behaviour that resembles trolls, regardless of if it is offensive or not, shall be marked. This will be a temporary arrangement and we shall review and change the rule as we see necessary.
• New accounts that pop up during or after a "Troll Wave" will no longer be tolerated and will promptly be deleted, regardless of if they are offensive or not.
Alt Accounts:
• If a user is creating an alt they will now be required to state in their main account, that the alt belongs to them. Otherwise, it will also be treated as a suspicious account, even if it is clear it belongs to them or if they have stated the account belongs to them whilst in another alt account. This is to combat offensive content and impersonation accounts made by trolls.
You can find the thread to state your alts here:
• Accounts impersonating other users will no longer be tolerated unless you have recieved permission from the user before creating the account. You will still be expected to post in the alt thread that this account belongs to you or it will be deleted.
• Any slightly suspicious behaviour from new or alt accounts that are not listed will be treated as a concern and promptly marked offensive. This is subject to change and we will review this rule regularly.
Old Accounts:
• Accounts belonging to old or regular users that have concerning, inappropriate or lewd usernames will no longer be tolerated whatsoever. If we see you using an account that does not abide by these rules, it will be promptly marked from here on out.
• Old alt accounts made before this post that display concerning behaviour will also be treated as a "suspicious account" until the user who owns the account states they own it, in the thread provided above. You will be required to post in your main that it belongs to you.
2. Changes to the way we handle inappropriate, violent, derogatory and concerning posts and behaviour online.
• Slurs regardless of context will no longer be allowed. In the past we've been lenient, but it will no longer be tolerated. If your account features a slur or you have posted a slur in one of your messages, your post will be marked or your account will not be tolerated.
• Any sexual or adult content will be handled immediately without warning and marked offensive. At this point, we do not need to keep reminding you that this forum is not an adult oriented zone.
• Posts promoting inappropriate drug usage, dangerous behaviour, stalking or violence will be dealt with immediately and without room for disagreement. Stalking in this example, also includes posting private information about other users without their consent or which could pose a threat to their online safety.
• Posts that are excessively violent, hateful or rude will be handled as offensive regardless of if it is about a user on the site or not.
An example of what this entails could be a lengthy derogatory post on why you hate your classmate and wished horrible things on them in graphic detail. Or repeatedly cursing somebody out with slurs and offensive language which would otherwise be considered harassment and slander, if it was about a user online.
3. Enforcement
• We are going to be more firm on our decisions and words. We will not be taking input from the community on the decisions in this post until further notice. This is a security measure to combat troll behaviour and crack down on inappropriate posts in the community. It will be reviewed again when we no longer feel these regulations are necessary.
• You are expected to follow the rules and we will not be allowing room for excessive anger and arguments over rules and regulations we expect everybody to abide by and that should be obvious ones to know by now.
• The moderation team will no longer be tolerating these kind of arguments over warnings and rule breaking. If you have received a penalty for breaking a rule or a warning for inappropriate behaviour, that is very clearly wrong, it is not up for debate and we will not be engaging in heated arguments over them.
The rules above are all subject to change again when we feel the community is in a safer state. This is not an enforcement to unfairly target users but a security measure as a direct result of the ongoing situation with trolls. We are aiming to crack down hard on inappropriate behaviour, no matter who it comes from.Moderator
